NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE
Naturopathic Medicine is a distinctively natural approach to health and healing that recognizes the integrity of the whole person with a focus on disease prevention and identification of the root cause of disease. Naturopathic Medicine combines natural, non-toxic therapies with current advances in health and medicine. Naturopathic Physicians (ND’s) are the only practitioners trained in both traditional healing arts and modern medical science. ND’s are licensed as primary care physicians in the state of Oregon.
Naturopathic Physicians are trained in a broad scope of therapies including nutrition, counseling, lifestyle coaching, herbal medicine, exercise therapeutics, vitamins and minerals, flower essences, homeopathy and prescription medications. ND’s perform physical examinations including gynecological care, order and interpret lab tests and diagnose and treat disease. They cooperate with all other branches of medical science, referring patients to other practitioners for treatment or diagnosis when appropriate.
The practice of Naturopathic Medicine emerges from six underlying principles of healing. It is these principles that distinguish the profession from other medical approaches.
